Building Futures celebrated the completion of our 13th home building project – and the first in Central Falls – with Mayor Rivera, the City of Central Falls, new home owners and other partners. Our Graduate Service Learning program gives pre-apprenticeship graduates the opportunity to gain additional skills on real world projects while making a significant contribution to our cities.
Graduates work with Building Futures trainers while preparing for placement in a Building and Construction Trades Council union registered apprenticeship program. The homes on Hood Street are energy efficient and used sustainable construction materials. This was our our first home building project in Central Falls and was accomplished thanks to our partnership with Mayor Rivera and the city. Andrew Cortés, Building Futures’ President and CEO, spoke about the multiple levels of opportunity created by the partnership – future tradesmen and women honing job site skills while creating an opportunity for families to purchase their first home.
